Wenning Automotive Universal OBD Module "OBD KILLER" CAT Deleter
Where is it used?
The OBD Killer is ideal for all sporadically occurring, emissions-related errors such as P0400, P0401, P0402, P0403, P0404, P0405, P0406, P0407, P0408 (exhaust gas recirculation): After an exhaust gas recirculation repair, sporadic error messages often recur, which often cannot be adequately resolved. The OBD Killer is a cost-effective alternative to replacing all components multiple times. The catalytic converter error class (P0420, P0421, P0422, P0423, P0424, P0430, P0431, P0432, P0433, P0434) is different. The engine control unit often repeatedly reports a faulty catalytic converter, even though it is still functioning properly. This occurs, for example, when using sports catalytic converters. When performance improvements are made or unsolved turbocharger problems occur, the error code P0234 often occurs: boost pressure control limit exceeded. It is also possible in motorsports, for example, when the OPF/GPF is to be removed (OPF/GPF delete).
Function
"OBD" stands for "On-Board Diagnostics," the standardized diagnostic interface for motor vehicles. The OBD Killer is a compact electronic module that simply plugs into this diagnostic interface. There, it monitors the engine control unit's error log in real time for possible entries. If an error is detected in the log, the OBD Killer blocks it before the driver sees a message in the cockpit. Expected, sporadically occurring error codes can be isolated. If an unexpected error occurs, the deletion process stops. This preserves the functionality of the error log.
Error Codes
The OKS.ALL is self-learning and can generally block all emissions-related error codes. During installation, the OBD Killer learns the entered codes as expected errors. This process can be repeated as often as required to add additional error codes. Manufacturer-specific codes that do not comply with the OBD standard are also deleted. As soon as an unexpected error occurs, the OBD Killer no longer intervenes. This ensures that the full functionality of the error log and check engine light is retained for all other error messages.
Application
You can use the OBD Killer on vehicles from model year 2008 onwards. There are also vehicles that already support the required standard in earlier years. You can identify these vehicles by the fact that pins 6 and 14 of the diagnostic connector are occupied. It doesn't matter whether the engine runs on diesel, gasoline, natural gas, or LPG. Some engine control units do not support erasing error codes while driving. The OBD Killer is therefore not suitable for these vehicles.
Installation
The OBD Killer is simply plugged into the vehicle's OBD port.
Changing Vehicles
If you change vehicles, you can continue to use the OBD Killer for vehicles from model year 2008 onwards without any problems. If the OBD Killer detects a new chassis number after installation, all learned values are reset. The OBD Killer is then essentially brand new.
